General information for all classes and P.T.

What should I expect from a class?

All my classes & personal training will variously include, as appropriate:

  • Verbal & practical preparation.
  • Warm up
  • Abdominal, core & pelvic floor (diaphragm) application
  • Training using varied equipment
  • Training using bodyweight
  • L.I.T.S.. & H.I.I.T.S. (low & high impact interval training)
  • Dance & movement routines
  • Progressive stretch, mobility & flexibility
  • Mindfulness & relaxation
  • Individual adaptation

Please note: except for ACPF , group classes are 75 mins long to allow for get in /get out & full instruction by me and thus a full hour of actual exercise.

Equipment

With the exception of Eggballs, all training equipment is provided by me in both P.T. and the classes.

I do carry spare mats but if you become a regular attender I do encourage the purchase of a mat, please, to save me lugging too many around to each venue. I always keep a supply of professional mats for sale at cost price.

If you wish to purchase any particular equipment please ask & we can discuss whether it’s appropriate. I can access professional quality equipment at a good price for you. I can also create home programmes.

Please bring water or your preferred drink to class/P.T.

Pre-training consultation

Personal training is, by definition, bespoke and all new P.T. clients have a free 1-hour consultation as well as completing a participant questionnaire.

Confidentiality

For your safety & comfort I request all participants to fill in a questionnaire before commencing training, so I have enough relevant information to compile the class format. That information is not entered on to any computer or database by me. If you leave classes I destroy the paperwork after 6 months. I do not discuss your personal information with anyone or other professional colleagues without your express permission.

Ali was recommended to me by a friend, as a post-natal specialist fitness instructor. I was a new mother then, with my first born child & I kept coming until 2 years later I had my son. I moved into harder classes as Ali advised and I was no longer post-natal. Over the next 13 years I also had some 1 to 1 personal training with Ali and the only reason I didn’t continue was because she moved out of area and took care of her parents. I have experienced a number of instructors but I can honestly say Ali is the best I have known because of her complete professionalism. Her dedication to her clients in terms of safety and care, however many were in the class nothing escaped Ali’s beady eyes! Her breadth of knowledge and enthusiasm and support, dedication to her work, wherever it was from sports hall to village hall Ali made it clean & safe for us and our children. Her enthusiasm rubbed off on us and was the reason we kept exercising. We all felt safe in her hands. I have never met anyone who would offer all of the above in one person and I am grateful for having had her in my life.

In the 9 years I attended Ali’s classes she rebuilt my fitness and self-esteem after giving birth to my two children. If you join her class you will be being taught by one of the most talented fitness instructors in the UK. Paula (44) PT 2017 > Present day

I recently started personal training with Ali and have found her to be very knowledgeable, engaging, pushy (in the best way) encouraging, honest and fun. She is so full of energy herself it’s impossible not to put everything you can in to each session and she finds ways to make exercises very intense, confidence building and interesting. The explanations on what, how & why exercises work is invaluable when you repeat exercises at home, too. Key for me was to work on my abdominal strength having had abdominal separation after children. Ali helped with that and gained my trust and respect to branch that out to work on the most beneficial and impactful parts of my body to give strength, health and wellbeing. It’s a hard hour with huge benefits!

Update – March 2022

Ali is a unicorn of a PT instructor, she gives your mind body and soul a workout! I’ve worked with Ali for 7 years now  – originally as an older mum of baby number 3 and another C-section. [see above] Ali knows when to drive you and when to pull you back and go easy on yourself and body. She gets to know the whole you. In the last two years I have had an unexpected and very tough medical journey. Ali researched and understood and then adapted my PT to meet my ever changing needs and has been an incredible resource throughout. Ali Is passionate, resourceful, a font of knowledge and totally kick-ass. It’s been a privilege to work with her and I can’t recommend her highly enough.
